The city of Bakersfield lighting turns to LED street light conversion
Lately the city of Bakersfield cooperated with LED street lighting manufacturer waive traditional street light and turn to getting replaced with new energy-efficient LED street lights on major city streets and in residential areas by the end of June, amounting close to13, 000 fixtures.
The obvious change for replacement is the light is rather brighter than before to deliver better visibility for traffic movement, thus it will make streets and sidewalks safer for lowering traffic accidents rate. Instead of previous over-bright LEDs causing insomnia and sleeplessness to residents, these lights are friendly to environment and human’s eyes as they emit natural light, causing no light pollution to environment.
Another point of this move is new-type LED street lights consume 66% less energy than before, which follows current energy-saving and carbon-emission trend. It is a rough estimation that more than 700,000 dollars will be removed from energy bills. And more resources will be moved into other significant matters and what need to be done.
Also, these thousands of LED street lights will last longer than before, approximately four times longer than before. That means huge maintenance and replacement costs are turning to zero on the bill, saving another fortune for local residents.
These LED street lights feature automated dimming and WIFI function, which send a signal when they go out. It is a big help for civil managers to identify which one is broken down and need to be replaced. And in a short time, professional crews will be sent to repair or replace them.
